How it works
Introduction to AI Applications in Pulmonary Medicine
Investigate trends and possibilities for AI in respiratory medicine
On this four-week course from Taipei Medical University, you’ll explore the applications of AI in the diagnosis, clinical management, and research of respiratory diseases.
You’ll be introduced to medical ethics and examine the ethical issues that surround AI applications, giving you a deeper, contextualised knowledge of AI treatments and usage.
Explore the role of AI in diagnosing lung diseases
Focusing on diseases including pneumothorax and lung lesions, you’ll learn how AI is used in detection and diagnosis and the impact this can have on survival rates.
Gaining insights into cutting edge technology, you’ll be able to identify the advantages and limitations of different AI technology when diagnosing and classifying diseases.
Examine AI and IoT applications for sleep disordered breathing
AI and IoT technology is helping to make significant strides in the area of sleep apnea diagnosis, thanks to the development of wearable monitoring devices.
You’ll learn how innovative technology can help detect changes in sleep disordered breathing, diagnose sleep apnea conditions, and analyse the severity and type of disease. You’ll also discover how the data collected can be synthesised and used to develop treatment methods.
Investigate a home-based pulmonary rehabilitation program
Smart telemedicine and AI are now being used throughout the process of diagnosing, treating, and monitoring diseases such as COPD.
You’ll examine how AI is used during COPD diagnosis and pulmonary rehabilitation, and be able to evaluate its effects on data analysis, quality of care, and patient quality of life.
By the end of this course, you’ll have a thorough overview of the ways in which AI, machine learning, and IoT technologies are transforming clinical care and approaches to pulmonary diseases.
Syllabus
Week 1
AI in respiratory medicine: current trends and future possibilities
Macine learning and deep learning in pulmonary diagnosis
Dr. Chou, Chun-Liang will review the basics of AI briefly. We will see a few examples of AI in medical usage.
AI in Pulmonary Medicine: Ethics of Artificial Intelligence
As the use of AI grows, so do the issues it raises. We will discuss the ethical issues caused by the application of AI in various fields.
Week 2
The role of AI in diagnosing lung diseases
The application of AI in image research and deep learning
Dr. Lee will explain how to use deep learning to analyze a large number of CT scan images and quickly compare and predict types of diseases.
Lung lesions detection software
Dr. Lee will introduce different software of AI for lung lesions detection.
Week 3
AI and IoTs for sleep disordered breathing and post Covid-19 respiratory care
Techniques for identifying and classifying sleep breathing disorders
Dr. Liu, Wen-Te will briefly introduce how the wearable device can detect changes in CVHRI when a patient has sleep apnea and analyze the severity and type of sleep apnea.
Improvements in data analytics and care platforms
Through the analysis of body data, a self-assessment system for sleep quality can be established, and a platform for continuous monitoring of respiratory physiological signals can be built without contact with the patient.
Week 4
AI for home-based pulmonary rehabilitation in COPD
Smart telemedicine for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Dr. Ho, Shu Chuan will introduce the application of artificial intelligence in home pulmonary rehabilitation of COPD and analyze the feasibility of artificial intelligence in pulmonary rehabilitation.
Home based rehabilitation for COPD
Dr. Ho will introduce how to develop an at-home training pulmonary rehabilitation program with the aid of technology. We will discuss the possibilities for future AI applications to improve healthcare and remote care.
Assessment and course feedback
This is the final review for this course. We will have a look at 3D slicer for your reference.
